THE ANT AND THE DOVE
[ Fables ]
An Ant went to a fountain to quench his thirst, and, tumbling in, was almost drowned. But a dove that happened to be sitting on a neighboring tree saw the Ant's danger, and plucking off a leaf, let it drop into the water before him, and the Ant, mounting upon it, was presently wafted safe ashore. Just at that time a Fowler was spreading his net, and in the act of snaring the Dove, when the Ant, perceiving his object, bit his heel. The start which the man gave made him drop his net, and the Dove, aroused to a sense of her danger, flew safe away.
One good turn deserves another.
螞蟻和鴿子

一只螞蟻到一個(gè)泉眼去喝水，掉了進(jìn)去，險(xiǎn)些被淹死，但是正巧有一只鴿子在旁邊的樹枝上歇息，看到螞蟻生命危險(xiǎn)，就叼下了一片樹葉讓它掉在螞蟻面前的水上，螞蟻爬了上去，立刻安全地漂到岸上去了。正在那個(gè)時(shí)候，一個(gè)捕鳥的人攤開了鳥網(wǎng)，動(dòng)手要捕捉鴿子，螞蟻看出了他的用意，就去咬了這人的腳后跟，捕鳥人一驚，把網(wǎng)扔了，鴿子意識(shí)到自己的危險(xiǎn)，就安然地飛走了。
